Alan Pardew “This Type Of Year Usually Ends Up In Relegation”

After the final whistle, Alan Pardew was understandably relieved after Newcastle United made sure they were still in the Premier League next season.

However, I have to say I was disappointed when he appeared to revert to type and started waffling about how terrible the injuries had been.

This is what the manager had to say to BBC Sport;

“It’s a big relief because this is a massive club. We got the win that we needed.

The injuries we’ve suffered this year have been horrendous, this type of year usually ends up in relegation.

It was a nervous display, we really needed that first goal. We’ve made mistakes but we will make sure that we protect ourselves, the Premier League is so unforgiving.”

I don’t know why the manager felt the need to drone on yet again about the injuries, they are something every team has to deal with, some years you get more than others.

Yes injuries can knock you down a few places but if Alan Pardew is trying to claim that injuries are solely/mainly responsible on a team going from fifth top to the edge of relegation in only 12 months, well I think he needs to pull the other one.
