Alan Pardew Backtracks On Ashley Comments
On Friday, Alan Pardew surprised everybody when he departed from the usual script and for the first time was publicly heard to criticise Mike Ashley, this after previously backing Newcastle’s owner to the hilt no matter what had happened at the club.
This is what the manager said on Friday;
We need to find out what the reasons were (for Newcastle’s from this season) and then it is for Mike, hopefully with me, to then decide how we go forward.
We know that we have an uncomfortable conversation regarding our form this season and the underachievement that has been mentioned, plus everything else.”
However, Alan Pardew has now backtracked and said that he wasn’t criticising either Newcastle United’s owner or Managing Director and says ‘that would have be ridiculous’.
“I am not criticising Mike (Ashley) or Derek (Llambias), that would be ridiculous…
I’m just saying that we need to have a conversation. We know that, it won’t be a comfortable conversation, will it?
It is not like last season when we finished fifth and said ‘what a good job we have all done’. This season has been a trickier one.”
Whatever the manager did or didn’t say, I wouldn’t mind being a mole (copyright Kevin Keegan) on the wall when Alan Pardew and Mike Ashley do have this conversation…
