9 Out Of 10 Newcastle Fans Believe Bottom Half Would Be Failure Next Season
At the end of each season we run a fans’ poll in our magazine, asking readers to vote on all kinds of topics to do with Newcastle United.
We then collate the thousands of votes and publish all the results in the summer special (out on 8th June – pre-order in our online shop – only £3) of our magazine.
Contributing to those totals, each day we’ll be asking you to vote via the website on a single question, we’ll leave it open for 24 hours and then let you know what the website voting has been.
Yesterday we asked – What Would Be Success For Newcastle United Next Season? – the options were Top 4, Top 6, Top Half or Avoiding Relegation.
Interestingly, at the extremes more or less the same number of fans rated Avoiding Relegation (7% of the votes) and finishing Top 4 (4%), so basically nearly 90% of fans don’t think it is realistic to expect top four or just to be hanging around the lower end avoiding relegation.
When it came to the other two categories, it was interesting to see very similar numbers, with 42% saying Top 6 would equate to success and 47% saying Top Half.
I think this is a fairly realistic attitude from our fans and if you go with a split between Top 6 and Top 10, you get 8th as where fans think Newcastle should be aiming to be.
Amazingly not all of us think we should automatically be winning the league but don’t expect us to be struggling at the wrong end. In fact the club stated that top ten was the aim last season so that means we should be singing from the same page…
Thanks to the thousands of you who voted and watch out for our next Fans’ Poll question coming up shortly.
