The Moral Maze – Should Newcastle Fans Want Sunderland To Win?
As Newcastle United have stumbled into the minefield that is marked ‘Premier League Relegation Fight’, the question is whether you do a deal with the devil.
The mackems play Villa tonight and if it was any other team then the easy choice would be for whoever to knock a hatful of goals past our Brummie mates and leave them still three points behind Newcastle and with a worse goal difference.

I’m afraid I can’t want them to win, maybe if it was the last match of the season and only by the mackems winning could Newcastle stay up, even then I’d have to go an dsee whoever is the sort of Geordie equivalent of the Pope, so he could give me absolution for my sinful thoughts.
The way I see it is that if Newcastle United can’t save themselves then they’ve got nobody to blame but themselves. In all likelihood United probably only need one win to ensure safety and if they don’t get that and finish on at least 40 points then that is failure, even if we end up staying in the Premier League.
As usual I want Sunderland to get absolutely hammered tonight, that would keep them on 37 points with us and Villa, then it is up to Newcastle to rediscover their backbone at Upton Park and get a win.
Supporting Newcastle also means your duty is to want the red & whites to get beat, end of story.
Add some extra interest to the end of the season and have a bet on who will be relegated, all relegation odds here, especially if you aren’t already a customer of BetVictor and take advantage of their special offer of a £25 free matched bet.
