Price Tag Set On Newcastle Target
With Newcastle desperate for another striking option this summer, one player repeatedly linked with United has had the price tag on his head confirmed.
Liverpool are reported to be sticking to their £17m valuation of Andy Carroll despite Brendan Rodgers still seeing no future for the striker in his first team.
The Telegraph are claiming that Liverpool are desperate to sell the ex-Newcastle player but also desperately need to raise funds for Rodgers to invest in new players.
It all sounds like back to square one and the position last summer, Liverpool wanting to unload a player they paid well over the odds for but unable to take the real hit that they need to if they want to sell Carroll.
It is reported Newcastle were prepared to pay £12m in a loan deal leading to a purchase, with Carroll having injury problems and scoring only five goals all season it would be hard to claim that his value hasn’t dropped.
Elsewhere rumours continue that the striker would love to come back to St.James’ Park but as before, we all know it would be that extra bit harder for Liverpool to let Carroll to return to Newcastle at any kind of bargain price.
Newcastle fans, if asked, would no doubt have mixed feelings about a possible return but what is for sure is that at least one more forward needs to be added this summer.
