Pardew Wishes He’d Left Out Cabaye and Mapou

Alan Pardew was understandably not happy after today’s match at St.James’ Park and when analysing the match afterwards, felt he made mistakes in his team selection.

The manager pointed to a couple of players who he reckoned looked especially tired and felt he should have looked elsewhere despite his limited choices.

Pardew thought Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Yohan Cabaye were the two who looked especially drained by recent performances.

Speaking to the club’s TV channel, Alan PArdew had this to say;

“We had some tired players today, Mapou and Cabaye in particular looked like they needed a rest today. We didn’t have too many options in those areas and maybe in hindsight we should have changed it a bit more.”

In terms of options, Perch could have played in the middle of defence or midfield, while Sissoko and Gutierrez could have played in the centre of the pitch.

It is understandable that the manager wants his captain and main man Cabaye on the pitch but he’s looked out of sorts for some time.

Maybe the season can’t end soon enough for our French playmaker.
