Newcastle United – Let Us Pray
Newcastle United have confirmed that they have now created a dedicated prayer room.
It is available for all faiths to use but it has come about due to the large number of Muslim players at St.James’ Park who have had to use various rooms to worship before matches.
Currently Newcastle United have seven Muslims in their first team squad; Papiss Cisse, Cheick Tiote, Massadio Haidara, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Hatem Ben Arfa, Moussa Sissoko and Medhi Abeid.
Not the biggest news in the world but another indication of common sense breaking out at St.James’ Park and doing the best to create the right environment for the club’s biggest assets to perform.
Far be it from me to try and make political capital but…I can’t help musing that while Newcastle United are creating a prayer room to help their players, Sunderland’s Jewish vice-chairman David Milliband felt forced to resign, after self-confessed fascist Paolo Di Canio was recruited.
You couldn’t make it up.
