Newcastle Linked With Move For Cabaye’s Ex-Teammate

Alan Pardew and Newcastle United are being linked with a move for a player who won Lique 1 alongside Yohan Cabaye.

Various media including the Mirror, report that Newcastle are interested in signing defender Aurelien Chedjou who has been at Lille since 2007.

The twenty seven year old powerful Cameroon international has impressed this season despite Lille failing in both the Champions League and domestic league.

A valuation of £12m has been talked about and Valencia are named as another club who are taking an interest.

The age of the player and the money talked about would be a major commitment if Newcastle did pursue the player.

However, just so long as Newcastle stay in the Premier League the extra broadcasting riches will need to be made available if the team/squad are going to move forward.

With Coloccini looking nailed on to leave, Newcastle will be desperate to bring in another quality defender just to stand still.
