French Club’s Director Of Football & Manager Try To Unsettle Cabaye

We have already had repeated attempts by AC Milan representatives trying to unsettle Davide Santon by very publicly talking about their interest in him, now this trend appears to have spread to France.

In a flagrant disregard for how clubs are supposed to act with regard to other clubs’ players, PSG’s Director of Football, Leonardo, has made public his interest in signing a number of French players including Yohan Cabaye.

Leonardo was interviewed by Gazzetta dello Sport and had this to say;

“The market is opening up, we may look in Spain or England.

On Ronaldo there has never been a offer, I’ve never heard anything about Rooney or Cavani either.

The idea of seeing the great French players here is something I like, I’m not necessarily talking about Benzema but maybe Nasria, Ribery or Cabaye.

I do not know if it is feasible and I have not had any contact with any of them.”

This was followed up by Carlo Ancelotti, PSG’s manager saying the following;

“I am not interested in the finances of a player, only his ability, I am working hard for the next transfer market. I only look at the player; Ribery, Benzema and Cabaye are all quality players.”

I think we are now definitely in an era where you have a number of clubs backed by huge money, who believe that normal rules don’t apply to them and any potential fines would be completely irrelevant.
