Newcastle United have issued a number of warnings about fans who bring smoke bombs and flares to matches and Manchester United, Manchester City and Sunderland fans have all thrown flares and/or smoke bombs into areas housing Newcastle fans.

It turns out that Liverpool fans have been active in this area as well, their club issuing the following statement before Saturday’s match;

‘As the Reds prepare to take on Newcastle United on Saturday, the club is reminding its travelling fans that smoke bombs, flares and other pyrotechnic devices aren’t allowed in any Premier League football ground.

A number of incidents have been reported recently that a minority of Liverpool fans have been behaving inappropriately during away fixtures, using these illegal devices.

If a person is identified behaving inappropriately at away matches, then the club will have no option  but to ban the individual(s) concerned from future matches.

If a person is identified behaving inappropriately at away grounds then the club will have no option but to ban the individuals concerned from future matches.

LFC encourages all away fans to respect the values of the club and stop taking these flares and fireworks to matches.’
