Disaster – Cisse Could Miss Last Four Matches Through Injury

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, it has now been revealed that Papiss Cisse is suffering from a rib injury that could keep him out of Newcastle United’s remaining four relegation fight matches.

Cisse is reported to have picked up the injury during United’s Europa League quarter-final against Benfica.

The story in the Evening Chronicle says that Cisse has played through the pain against the mackems and West Brom to try and ensure Newcastle’s position in the top flight.

However, he has now flown to Paris to see a specialist after aggravating the problem in Saturday’s match at the Hawthorns.

The injury is described as a ‘small rib crack’ but depending on the diagnosis, Cisse could miss Liverpool and our other three Premier League matches.

If the worst happens and we don’t have Cisse available, it demonstrates just how shocking the striker situation is at St.James’ Park.

Yoan Gouffran can play through the middle but has hardly been given a chance as a striker, plus has been dragged off nine times in the ten matches he has started.

The only other options are the non-scoring Shola and the inexperienced Adam Campbell.

Totally unacceptable for a club with any ambition.

While one thing I can’t understand is that when any of our foreign players gets an injury they have top go to France to see a specialist, do we not have anybody who has studied rib injuries in the UK?
