Ben Arfa On His Way Back
It has been a strange season for Hatem Ben Arfa, having received a call-up to the national squad for the European Championships on the back of an impressive second half of last season, the French maverick then started the season in similar fashion and was arguably Newcastle’s best player and biggest attacking threat.
Injury then struck in a low key match against Maritimo and he’s never fully recovered.
However, the Independent are reporting this morning that Hatem is on his way back, stating;
‘The French forward was involved at the club’s Little Benton training ground yesterday’.
The reports go on to say that this gives further reassurance that the player definitely doesn’t need an operation and could still be involved this season.
I’m guessing that the return of Ben Arfa could rest to a large degree on how the next few matches pan out.
If United can get to relative safety with a couple of wins against Fulham and the mackems then there wouldn’t be a desperate need to rush him back to fight relegation, while on a more positive note we’ll see on Thursday night whether we’re still dreaming of European glory and a better reason for the return of Hatem before next season.
