Ben Arfa Is Certain To Start Against Liverpool…Or Is He?
It was great news to hear yesterday that Hatem Ben Arfa had announced he was 100% fit after his ongoing injury problems.
So that means we can all look forward to heading up to St.James’ Park today and watch him hopefully repeat his class performance in helping us beat the scousers last season.
Or can we?

This is what the enigmatic genius had to say to the match programme;
I am happy that I have come back into the team gradually and slowly.
The manager and doctor put in place a programme to ensure I return gradually rather than rush back and get further problems.
I’m happy with the work of the backroom staff and the manager because this was my first muscular injury and it was important that the healing ran its course.”
With printing deadlines etc, Ben Arfa must have said he was fighting fit at the start of this week at the latest so with at least 3 or 4 extra days of training he will surely be starting?
This is what Alan Pardew said at his pre-Liverpool press conference;
“He (Ben Arfa) has worked a lot better this week and we are hopeful that he is going to make more of an impact, whether he plays from the start or off the bench.”
It is not only the injuries that have caused a problem this season, it has also been the confusing information (misinformation?) fed to fans about possible return of players and the nature/seriousness of their injuries.
Liverpool is such an important match and with United so lacking in creativity, if Ben Arfa doesn’t start then I won’t be the only one left scratching his head.
