Alan Pardew Reveals Players Available For Benfica
Ahead of Newcastle United’s clash with Benfica, Alan Pardew has made clear who is and isn’t available for the crucial second leg of the Europa League quarter final.
While there is always the possibility of Alan Pardew pulling a fast one to mislead the opposition, as he has done in the past, this is the current availability of players.
Steven Taylor picked up a knock in training yesterday and so misses out, Coloccini and longer term injuries Ryan Taylor and Haris Vuckic will also be missing, as will Davide Santon after limping off against Fulham.
Cheick Tiote will not be available but Alan Pardew confirmed that he is back in training and that everybody else in his squad is available to play, including Hatem Ben Arfa.
It would appear unlikely that he would play the Frenchman from the start but he did that in Moscow for the Anzhi match, though that was with Papiss Cisse missing through illness and the worry that the plastic pitch would put Shola out of action.
Yoan Gouffran and Mathieu Debuchy are of course ineligible to play tonight.
So Alan Pardew would appear to have the choice of Krul, Elliot, Simpson, Perch, Williamson, Mapou, Haidara, Anita, Obertan, Gosling, Jonas, Bigirimana, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Sissoko, Shola, Cisse, Campbell.
