Alan Pardew Rubbishes Cisse Injury story
At today’s pre-match press conference for the Liverpool match, Alan Pardew fielded a varied assortment of questions.
As well as the predictable stuff and his view on the Luis Suarez biting incident, the manager also rubbished a story that had put extra stress on fans earlier in the week.
Alan Pardew today dismissed the story that appeared in the Evening Chronicle earlier this week, reporting that Papiss Cisse had suffered a rib injury and could miss the rest of the season.
“I don’t know where that rumour came from, he has trained all week and he has trained well all week.”
Below is how we carrued the news from the Chronicle on Tuesday;
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, it has now been revealed that Papiss Cisse is suffering from a rib injury that could keep him out of Newcastle United’s remaining four relegation fight matches.
Cisse is reported to have picked up the injury during United’s Europa League quarter-final against Benfica.
The story in the Evening Chronicle says that Cisse has played through the pain against the mackems and West Brom to try and ensure Newcastle’s position in the top flight.
However, he has now flown to Paris to see a specialist after aggravating the problem in Saturday’s match at the Hawthorns.
The injury is described as a ‘small rib crack’ but depending on the diagnosis, Cisse could miss Liverpool and our other three Premier League matches.
All very strange but just so long as Papiss is out on the pitch on Saturday I’ll be happy, or at least as happy as you can be that our one and only out and out striker is playing!
