Alan Pardew Needs To Tone Down His Mackem-Fixation
Yes Newcastle got beat off Sunderland last weekend, apparently.
It doesn’t happen very often thankfully and you just take it on the chin and get on with putting it right.
However, those inside St,James’ Park appear to be getting an unhealthy obsession with our near neighbours, with behaviour we have got used to from those connected with Snderland over the years.
This morning we brought you the comments of Jonas Gutierrez, where he was suggesting [intlink id=”27581″ type=”post”]getting beat off Sunderland was a worse feeling than relegation[/intlink], now our manager is at it.
This is what Alan Pardew said at his press conference today;
“Some of the reaction (to the Sunderland result) has been a bit heavy handed, I still maintain what I said after the game was correct.
The Europa League game definitely had an effect and a lot of clubs would have given their right arm to be in the quarter final of the Europa League and it was a consequence of ‘going for it’.
It was a great day for Sunderland and a tough one for us, I would rather play and give it a good go in the quarter finals of the Europa League and they can only dream of that.”
What he is saying is the kind of thing you would taunt your mackem ‘mates’ with, not what you want your manager saying.
Cheap shots about Sunderland dreaming of European quarter-finals isn’t much of a joke when we are next to them in a relegation fight and arguably now just as far away from a European quarter final as the mackems are.
I don’t want cheap jibes at our local rivals, I want everybody at Newcastle just focused on getting things right at St.James’ Park.
