Alan Pardew Looks To Crawl Up The Hill

Newcastle United are getting to the sharp end of the season and Alan Pardew is looking for players to step up and take on the pressure in these remaining weeks of the season.

I don’t personally think that the Europa League affected results earlier in the season, Newcastle just basically weren’t playing well enough with too many players off form and the odd crucial injury to players like Cabaye and Ben Arfa.

However, clearly this two legged tie with Benfica has coincided with a bad combination of consecutive Premier League losses and other clubs, especially Wigan, picking up results.

Alan Pardew has had this to say about the coming week;

 “We’ll have to cope with the pressure against Fulham, can we? We’re going to have to and I’m confident we’ve got the ability in the squad to get into a position in the league where we are still a Premier League side next season.

That’s the focus on Sunday, then we switch to Thursday and try to climb what will be a difficult hill but not what I’d call a mountain, more a decent hill.”

I think we definitely have got the ability in the squad but sadly a fair bit of that ability in the squad won’t be available to the manager in these next couple of matches.

Can those players left standing do the job? Three points against Fulham would go a long way towards pushing us up that hill.

Great odds available for the Fulham match, especially if you aren’t already a customer of BetVictor and take advantage of their special offer of a £25 free matched bet.
