Transfer Target Disrespects Newcastle

Dutch international Gregory Van Der Wiel has claimed he turned down Newcastle last summer in favour of a move to PSG.

The full-back joined the French club from Ajax and he’s come out with some less than diplomatic comments.

Sky Sports have reported that Van Der Wiel has commented on making the right choice last summer;

“I love it in Paris. I had the chance to go to Newcastle but I didn’t want to live in a place like that. I prefer Paris, everything is trendy and alive.”

Players are always trying to play up to their fans but why they feel the need to disrespect others is a mystery.

While there is no doubt Van Der Wiel is a decent player, it looks like we had a lucky escape with somebody showing that attitude.

In the past we have found out to our cost what happens when you add dodgy characters to the dressing room, obviously the irony is that so many French players don’t find it such a hardship live ‘in a place like that’.
