Top 6 NUFC Players v Stoke Weren’t On Pitch 2 Months Ago

We’ve seen with our own eyes the improved results and performances from Newcastle United in the last couple of months but then it is little surprise when you compare recent teams with the limited choices Alan Pardew had at his disposal not so long ago.

On Sunday, the top six players voted for by fans in our man of the match poll, weren’t available to the manager as recently as early January!

Before the away match at Norwich on 12th January, both Yohan Cabaye and Steven Taylor were yet to return from injury, these two topped the Stoke MOM poll with 30% and 25% respectively, no doubt Taylor claiming an assist for putting the keeper off…

The players who finished in the next four placings were Sissoko, Mapou, Debuchy and Gouffran.

Debuchy made his debut at Carrow Road, with the other three becoming available in the following weeks.

I know you can never know for sure but taking those six players out of both the Stoke match and the previous ones…well I think we all know the answer to that.

I know there was much talk of what tactics should and shouldn’t have been employed but without available talent you are just shuffling chairs around on the Titantic, in my opinion.

I think we should celebrate the team we have now but also learn from our very recent history, eleven ‘purples’ don’t make a squad.

Great odds available for the Anzhi match this Thursday, especially if you aren’t already a customer of BetVictor and take advantage of their special offer of a £25 free matched bet.
