Sissoko Helps Make Newcastle United ‘More Intelligent’ Than With Ba
Alan Pardew has been comparing and contrasting the differences between having Demba Ba and Moussa Sissoko in the team, though being greedy I wouldn’t have minded seeing them both in black and white together.
The manager has also confirmed that Cisse will start against Wigan in our shiny brand new ‘modern and intelligent’ team;
“Goals definitely change the mentality of a striker. His (Cisse’s) workrate has been first rate all season.
When you get those special goals though at crucial times, it’s got to give you a lift. He’ll definitely play on Sunday, that is for sure.
We are a different team now because we have a different player in Moussa Sissoko instead of Ba.
For me, this is a more modern team and a more intelligent team, hopefully we’ll be able to take that forward”.
Undoubtedly Papiss Cisse suffered in terms of both he and Ba wanting to take up the same positions and Sissoko is a totally different type of player. I do think though that if the extra quality of players like Sissoko had been added in the summer then a way could have been found for Ba and Cisse to play well in the same eleven.
You only need to look back at how Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand worked so well, largely because they were surrounded by other class players.
