Russian Hibernation Makes Newcastle Cracking European Bet
What the result has done though is given United a massive advantage going into the second leg.
The best thing about it as well is that if you like having a bet on the football, the betting odds don’t seem to have taken into account a lot of factors, which means those of us wanting to back Newcastle can fill our boots!
In my match preview I suggested backing a draw at 14/5 and a Newcastle clean sheet at 15/4, the only danger during the whole match was the glorious Ben Arfa chance when both he and the shocking pitch fluffed their lines. Elsewhere on the site we also suggested backing a 0-0 scoreline which paid a lovely 21/2, so hopeful;ly plenty of you followed our tips and backed those odds with BetVictor. (The main reason we have partnered with BetVictor is that in each of the last two years they have won the award for being the best odds for football betting, the fact they offer a £25 free matched bet is just a bonus!)
There are so many factors that make Newcastle a great bet to go through on Thursday and the 6/4 for United to win in 90 minutes is outstanding.
Amongst the factors;
Anzhi haven’t played a domestic league match in three months.
Anzhi played their top players in Moscow while Newcastle rested many first teamers.
The Russian winter break has just ended and so after months with hardly any matches, Anzhi now face 3 matches in 7 days, a league match against Mordovia Salansk on the Sunday in between our two-legged tie.
In their four Europa League away matches in the competition proper, Anzhi have drawn two and lost at Liverpool and Young Boys.
Betting is all about how good, or bad, the odds are and at 6/4 Newcastle are cracking odds to win the home leg and go through.
As for going the whole way, once again Newcastle’s odds have hardly changed despite the Moscow result. Way back we suggested backing Newcastle each way at 33/1 (you get half the odds if they reach the final) to win the Europa league and then again at 25/1 before the first Anzhi match.
To get to the final (and for you to win some money), Newcastle have to get past Anzhi and then through two more ties.
Newcastle’s strengthened squad and new found belief make the Europa League chances a live bet, make it extra interesting with a few quid on Le Toon.
