Pardew ‘I’ve Got A Boy Going To Hospital And That Feels Worse Than Losing’
After now seeing the replay on TV, the horror tackle on Massadio Haidara and the player’s clear agony was distressing to see.
The first reports were that the left-back had suffered a knee and thigh injury, no wonder John Carver was kicking off on the half-time whistle.
This though was Alan Pardew’s comment afterwards;
“It was an awful tackle, I’ve got a boy going to hospital and that feels worse than losing.
It looked a bad tackle but I didn’t realise just how bad until it filtered through to us”.
Mark Halsey will not enjoy watching it later but you would hope that Callum McManaman would be suitably ashamed when he sees it again.
When something happens like this and a team is doubly punished by the injury and the fact the referee fails to see the sending off, you do wonder why a fourth official isn’t sitting in front of a screen to instantly clear up such obvious miscarriages of justice.
