NUFC Planning USA Trip

It looks like Newcastle United are most likely to be heading back to America in the summer for pre-season preparations.

United were there in 2011 and the club will hopefully have learnt valuable lessons as the schedule was far from ideal and attracted much criticism.

The Shields Gazette are reporting the States as the most likely destination due to a number of factors, including the facilities and of course the chance to further grow our US fanbase.

While the far east is another remote option, the main thing must be to have no repeat of last year’s farce when the cancelled South African trip led to a shambolic series of matches in Germany and Austria where details were generally kept a closely guarded secret until late on, making it as difficult as possible for fans to plan travel.

Minimal crowds and interest did little for United in any sense of credibility or profile.

Alan Pardew has said;

“We are looking at various scenarios and obviously we had the South Africa getting cancelled last year.

That is a process we don’t want to repeat, as we got really let down in pre-season.

We do not want to put ourselves in that situation again and it is ongoing between myself, Lee Charnley and Derek (Llambias).”
