NUFC International Duty Injury Update
A largely disappointing international night on the pitch for the Newcastle United contingent but for United fans the good news is that there are no reported injuries.
France were knocked off the top of their group thanks to a single goal for Spain, Yohan Cabaye played the first seventy minutes and picked up a yellow card before being substituted. Moussa Sissoko was a late 82nd minute sub, while Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa didn’t feature.
Steven Taylor was only a spectator as England got a decent draw in Montenegro in front of what looked a pretty mad crowd.
Shane Ferguson was the other first team squad member to play, as Northern Ireland were defeated by Israel at home and Fregie played the first 72 minutes.
If everybody arrives back fit and well it will be a relief to Alan Pardew, as the Shields Gazette are already reporting that Davide Santon and Mathieu Debuchy could both be struggling for Manchester City on Saturday, having been sent home early from international duty.
At youth level, Newcastle’s Adam Armstrong and Kyle Cameron played for England’s under 16s against Holland, drawing 1-1 in the Montaigu Tournament, the match played at Beauvoir Sur Mer.
