Newcastle’s Champions League Winner Wants To Go One Better

Speaking at the pre-Anzhi press conference today, Davide Santon was alongside Alan Pardew.

Our Italian full-back had a surprising revelation (for most of us) from his teenage years;

“My first game in the Champions League was against Manchester United with Inter Milan, which was very exciting but while I got a Champions League (winners) medal with them, I only made one appearance in that campaign because I was injured for six months. So it didn’t feel that I’d really win the Champions League.

So now I have this chance to win a European competition with Newcastle and I want to give 100% to try and do that”.

I must admit that I knew that Santon had played against Ronaldo’s Manchester United but hadn’t realised that Inter had then gone on to win it.

It says a lot about Santon that he is quite dismissive of the fact he owns a CL medal because he only played the one match, you can imagine certain other ex-Newcastle players who would be wearing the medal around their neck out drinking in Newcastle!

Great odds available for the Anzhi match this Thursday, especially if you aren’t already a customer of BetVictor and take advantage of their special offer of a £25 free matched bet.
