Newcastle v Sunderland Derby Match To Be Moved

A necessary inconvenience of Newcastle’s last gasp win over Anzhi, is that the home derby match against Sunderland is in line to be moved back 24 hours.

Newcastle’s quarter final dates are Thursday 4th April and Thursday 11th April, meaning that the Sunderland home match currently scheduled for Saturday 13th April is almost certain to be played on Sunday 14th April and a similar story the week before when Fulham were due to play at St.James’ Park.

A nightmare for fans who have already made travel plans but on this occasion I suppose there isn’t a lot that can be done with the limited time between rounds. The alternative would be to move every Saturday match to a Sunday at an early date and I doubt anybody would want to see that.

It is thought likely the Sunderland match will have a kick-off around lunchtime, whether it will be still televised as it was due to be on the Saturday is unknown at this point.

Hopefully the club will get details out ASAP to allow fans to make plans.
