Newcastle United Predicted Line-Up v Manchester City
With the news yesterday that six first team squad members wouldn’t make the City match, seven if you include Hatem Ben Arfa, then it gives Alan Pardew some interesting decisions to make.
With three full-backs in Davide Santon, Mathieu Debuchy and Massadio Haidara all unavailable then Newcastle will have an all changed pairing. The manager has a number of options in Danny Simpson, James Perch, Vurnon Anita and Jonas Gutierrez, but I’m taking a chance on Simpson making what looked previously an unexpected comeback and Jonas to drop in on the left.
With Tim Krul and Fabricio Coloccini still not ready to return, it would appear Rob Elliot, Steven Taylor and Mapou Ynaga-Mbiwa are certainties to complete the defence.
While Yohan Cabaye, Moussa Sissoko, Papiss Cisse and Yoan Gouffran look to be nailed on to start, that still leaves two places to be filled.
You can never rule out Alan Pardew bringing Obertan back in from nowhere, yet again, but surely Perch, Anita and Marveaux would feature ahead of him.
I can see Anita joining Obertan on the bench with James Perch given a defensive midfield role in the absence of the injured Cheick Tiote, with Marveaux looking to create a little bit of magic as he did for the winners against Anzhi and Stoke.
Not a bad first eleven but once again options are very limited if we need to look to the bench.
