Newcastle January Target On Brink Of Joining West Ham
A striker who Newcastle were strongly linked with in January is reportedly due in London on Monday to have talks with West Ham.
Wilfried Bony was on the brink of leaving Vitesse Arnhem in the winter transfer window but was persuaded to stay until the end of the season and try to help his club into the Champions League.
Now The Sun are reporting that the player will travel to London for talks with the West Ham owners in advance of a move in the summer.
Bony has been in electric form and scored 26 goals in 24 matches this season, including 10 in his last 6 games. Not surprisingly he is currently the top scorer in Holland.
Russian clubs were also believed to be very interested in the forward but he has made clear that the Premier League is where he wants to play.
With the increased broadcasting revenues as from next season, it will only strengthen the hand of English clubs targeting less wealthy leagues. With every club forecast to possibly get as much as £70m minimum per season, it isn’t only the elite who will be throwing money around looking for those elusive goalscorers.
