Newcastle Consider Legal Action over Tackle

There are reports this morning that Newcastle United could consider legal action over the challenge from Callum McManaman on Massadio Haidara.

There is a precedent very close to home as Everton’s Victor Anichebe successfully sued Newcastle United for a six figure sum after Kevin Nolan caused him serious injury with a bad tackle.

The story in The Telegraph also reports that they believe there aren’t any bones broken but it’s thought there is extensive ligament damage which is likely to sideline the left-back for a number of months.

They further report that Haidara can’t straighten the leg and swelling around the knee means that the initial scan hasn’t been able to determine how serious the injury is.

A sad tale all round, especially for the young player.

The lack of any decisive action so far by the authorities leaves an extra edge of bitterness to the whole affair and with the incident beamed live to the TV audience it shreds further any credibility they may still have had.
