New Research Values Newcastle United At £275m

A new reliable valuation model has rated Manchester United as the only English football club to be valued at over £1bn but closer to home, Newcastle United have been given a £275m price tag.

If you look at the Premier League valuation table; prices assume that the buyer, on top, also assumes responsibility for any current debt each club has.

Respected football finance expert, Tom Markham, has used various criteria and drawn from some of the best practice used in previous valuation models.

The explanation of how he has developed his model are complex to say the least for the average football fan but to see a full explanation go to the excellent sportingintelligence.com website to see how Markham come to his results.

Part of his explanation on the various clubs is below;

‘Newcastle United are next at £275.8m based predominantly on the club’s ability to fill St.James’ Park on a constant basis.

The prudent West Bromwich Albion is eighth at £126.9m.

Sunderland are with a value of £121.8m which could be improved upon by attracting more fans to the Stadium of Light.’

Very interesting to see Newcastle so highly valued and that even in these times of ever increasing broadcast revenue, the major factor in Newcastle United’s valuation is still the fans.
