New Injury Worry For Newcastle

Davide Santon had joined up with the Italian Under 21s in advance of their matches against Russian on Friday and then the Ukraine next Monday.

However, the United full-back pulled up in training during Tuesday’s session, due to pain in his left thigh.

Santon will undergo tests today (Wednesday) and may be on his way back to Newcastle for treatment if the news isn’t good.

After being one of Newcastle’s best players on Sunday and showing yet further versatility as he played almost as a (scoring) winger in the second half at Wigan, it would be a major blow if the young Italian was ruled out.

With Haidara and Debuchy already on the injured list, the last thing we would need is another full-back to be crocked.

However, as is the irony of football, it would then potentially open up the possibility of Danny Simpson being involved again, having no doubt accepted that he’d already played his last game for Newcastle.
