Mike Ashley Joins In With ‘Don’t Sell Cabaye…’

An interesting story kicking around today, with several journalists reporting that Yohan Cabaye is Mike Ashley’s favourite player and that the Newcastle owner will refuse to sell the French midfielder at any price. A bit of a step up on Ashley’s previous favourite, Alan Smith!

With the same story appearing in a number of places, including the Journal and the Mirror, it is fair to assume that the information is correct and that they have been fed the story.

The reports also reveal that Mike Ashley put a £25m transfer fee on ALL of his players last summer to fight off interest, the list allegedly including James Perch!

Now with all due respect, that would have been some headline…’United turn down £25m for Perchino’!!!

Also part of the stories is that if as expected Fabricio Coloccini leaves in the summer, then Yohan Cabaye will take over as club captain.

While we still have the rest of this season to get through with Premier League safety and possible European glory, looking ahead to next season I can only think that things are looking to be going a bit too smoothly!

It would be a massive move forward if Newcastle keep all their key players and add to them, the signs are positive.
