Newcastle United v Anzhi 8.05pm – Live On ESPN

While a number of players aren’t available for tonight’s match with Anzhi, Alan Pardew still has a number of decisions to make.

Gouffran and Debuchy aren’t eligible to play, while Coloccini, Krul and Ben Arfa are missing through injury, Shola is expected to be available after missing the win over Stoke.

While there was little doubt Davide Santon would be involved tonight, the Italian full-back’s presence alongside Alan Pardew at the pre-match press conference rubber stamps it.

I thought Haidara might have had a chance of starting with Santon moving to the right but the talk appears to be that the more experienced Simpson will keep his Europa place.

While most of the team appears to pick itself, if as expected Alan Pardew goes for his strongest available eleven then the absence of Gouffran does throw up one place for grabs.

Obertan got the pick at St.James’ park against Metalist but was poor, whilst he was atrocious in Moscow.

While Anita is also a contender for a place, I fancy Marveaux to get his chance after his part in the superb move for the winner against Stoke.

While Marveaux has struggled for consistency, he surely offers more than the infuriating Obertan, unless Alan Pardew decides to keep the left footed winger/midfielder as an impact sub…just in case.

Great odds available for the Anzhi match this Thursday, especially if you aren’t already a customer of BetVictor and take advantage of their special offer of a £25 free matched bet.
