Let’s Jump (One Footed) Back To The 60s

So Dave Whelan is harking for days of old is he; “It was a fair tackle…he got the ball…I don’t think he should get punished at all” etc etc.  You don’t think you need to apologise?  “No I don’t think so”.

Dave tells us it was obviously fair as the ref was only fifteen yards away.  And we know how refs are always 100% correct and never miss a thing, just like ‘not’ missing the handball before the winner which was obviously ok as the ref was only fifteen yards away then too.

We’ve seen our own players like Guthrie and Barton put in ridiculous challenges and suffer the consequences but we don’t suddenly turn a blind eye and say they were hard done by.  We’ve had to take our punishments so why should you be any different?

Remember Ben Thatcher’s elbow on Pedro Mendes?  I bet Dave was thinking to himself that Pedro was a tart.

Probably thought Roy Keane’s tackle on Alf Inge Haaland was fair game.

Where was he when Sir Alex was claiming Ashley Williams kicking the ball off Robin Van Persie’s head “could have killed him” or was he thinking Fergie was losing it?

Come on Dave, times have changed and for the better surely. Yes he got the ball, well maybe got a bit of a slight nick on it, erm his dangerously raised studs might have grazed the ball before he took our man out knee high.

Dave comes from a time when a goalkeeper catching the ball could be bundled over the line by a centre-forward who would then be seen Whelan away (get it) celebrating a clinical and legal finish.

I’ve been quite restrained on what I have said here, I’m that annoyed by his comments.  I actually quite liked and respected Dave Whelan for his achievements at Wigan but quite frankly he wants to get himself down to specsavers (other opticians are available) before his eyes completely give up on him.

The man’s comments are an absolute joke and not a very funny one at that.
