John Carver Given Slap On The Wrist

John Carver epitomised the feelings of everybody connected with Newcastle United when he confronted Callum McManaman at half-time after the Haidara assault.

However, in the cold light of day it is quite surprising that Carver has only been given a £1000 fine and a warning to his future conduct by the FA.

Especially surprising when his opposite number, Wigan’s Graham Barrow, was also fined £1000 but also received a one match touchline ban.

Both Carver and Barrow were sent to the stands after that half-time altercation and faced an FA charge of misconduct.

With John Carver sparking the half-time action, you would have anticipated he would have got at least the same punishment but obviously they must have viewed Barrow’s reaction even worse.

Exactly how much help coaches or managers are from the sidelines if open to question but the lack of a ban must be seen as a positive.

A bit the same as John Carver’s Geordie passion!
