Hatem Catches Plane To Moscow But Surpises As Other Newcastle Stars Left Behind

8 years ago

The Newcastle United squad have boarded their plane for Moscow this Wednesday morning, with a few surprise omissions.

The nineteen man squad who travelled are as folllows;

Alnwick, Shola, Anita, Ben Arfa, Bigirimana, Cabaye, Campbell, Elliot, Gosling, Haidara, Marveaux, Obertan, Perch, Santon, Simpson, Sissoko, Steven Taylor, Tiote, Mapou

The big news is that Papiss Cisse doesn’t make the trip, which leaves Newcastle really short up front as Gouffran is of course not eligible, as is the case with Mathieu Debuchy. Shola is the only senior striker to travel with youngster Adam Campbell as back-up.

It is of course good news that hatem Ben Arfa has made the trip but the manager has already said he won’t get more than 20 or 30 minutes at most.

The main other notable absentee is Jonas Gutierrez, while the manager had already said he wouldn’t risk Coloccini’s back on the artificial surface.

Great odds available for the Anzhi match this Thursday, especially if you aren’t already a customer of BetVictor and take advantage of their special offer of a £25 free matched bet.
