Hatem Ben Arfa ‘We’ve Signed A Giant!’

While out injured, Hatem Ben Arfa made clear how happy he was to stay at St.James’ Park…if Newcastle United showed ambition.

Now ready to take to the pitch again after three months out injured, Hatem has given his verdict on the January signings to the Mirror;

“I’m very happy now, they’re very good players and will really strengthen the team. I was pleased because they’re good players and not just because they’re French.

Moussa Sissoko is here and he’s a giant. I know him from the national team and a lot of big clubs wanted him and he came to Newcastle.

We’ve a much stronger team now than we did before January and it’s good because last season we did really well and finished fitth, though the squad wasn’t very big.

The ambition is to come back very strong and finish the season strongly, I want to be at my best to the end of the season, that’s my ambition at the moment.

I’m looking forward to playing and I’m very happy to get back on the pitch. It’s been a long time, ten weeks is difficult for any player to deal with”.

Moussa Sissoko has of course proved an instant hit and ‘Giant’ is a pretty good way of summing up his impact. As Ben Arfa points out though and is obvious to all, it is the squad that was United’s biggest weakness and what a difference not that has been addressed.

While Newcastle aren’t out of the woods yet in terms of the relegation fight, without the new signings you dread to think where we would have been now as Ben Arfa prepares to return.

The fact there is no urgent need to panic and rush Hatem back before he is ready, is a massive positive for the player, the manager and the fans.

Adding Ben Arfa’s talents to this team could get even the calmest supporter drooling.
