Coloccini Injury Far Worse Than First Thought

While most Newcastle fans thought it was touch and go whether Fabricio Coloccini would make it for Swansea this Saturday, it turns out that the diagnosis is far worse.

The newspaper that brought the exclusive about the possibility of Colo leaving in January, are now claiming another exclusive with our captain.

The Independent are reporting that Coloccini could miss at least the next five matches with the end of March the earliest he could return, having injured his back with that spectacular/daft overhead clearance against Southampton.

If this proves the case then Colo would miss the double header with Anzhi in the Europa League as well as crucial Premier League matches against Swansea, Stoke and Wigan, with Manchester City at the end of March as maybe a realistic return.

This is a big blow as Coloccini has looked back to something near his best in recent matches but it has now given us the opportunity to see Mapou and Steven Taylor getting a run together, six months or so before they potentially are a permanent item…
