Coloccini Flies Back Into Newcastle
Colo was diagnosed with two minor fractures in his back when doing an acrobatic overhead clearance against Southampton back in February.
The initial diagnosis was anything up to eight weeks but last week his mate and compatriot, Jonas Gutierrez, gave us the news that Coloccini was progressing well and would be back on Tyneside shortly.
The Daily Star are reporting that our captain will begin light training in the gym this week and join up with the rest of the squad when ready.
I must admit that when Coloccini picked up the injury with a recovery time of up to eight weeks AND headed back to Argentina, a part of me wondered whether we would see him back on the pitch in black and white stripes.
It would be a massive boost for Alan Pardew to have his captain available for what could be both a crucial and very busy run-in, especially if our Europa League dream lives on.
