Celtic & Rangers To Play In English League Within Five Years
The main man at Rangers, Charles Green, has stated that he believes Rangers will be playing league football in England within five years.
He has also claimed that two English clubs have already been offered to him as ‘surrogates’ with Green stating;
Green says that he wouldn’t go down that route and believes that eventually the likes of Rangers and Celtic could be able to play in England and move up the leagues;
“Imagine the income Rangers & Celtic would generate in the Conference, then to work through the leagues over the next three or four years would refresh English football.”
Most within the English game have said they can’t see it happening, including Richard Scudamore, the Premier League chief, however Green is preparing a legal challenge;
“Under European law, (stopping Rangers playing in England) is categorically a restraint of trade.
It is clearly the same law as Bosman.”
While Charles Green is clearly a ‘bit’ of a maverick, I wouldn’t bet against Newcastle United lining up against the likes of Celtic and Rangers in a league situation sometime in the future.
When MK Dons were allowed to take over Wimbledon then it created a dangerous precedent.
Then just because a club is from a different country would no doubt prove a minor hurdle if the figures stacked up and all parties wanted to make it happen.
