Cash Injection Won To Help Develop Newcastle Stars Of The Future
We have just received new of a great victory for football development in the north east.
Blyth Town FC won a £50,000 grant as the north east winner of the Budweiser Club Futures programme which then allowed them to compete with the other seven regional winners for an extra £100,000.
Blyth have just been in touch to thank The Mag for our small part in helping to support their bid for the money and the great news is that they have won the extra £100,000. This is a great tribute to the club and the north east in general for mobilising support and making sure that they beat the other seven clubs from around the country.
Budweiser Club Futures will help clubs improve various parts of their general facilities such as clubhouses and catering. The essence of the programme is to shine a light on grassroots football and help clubs to help themselves, making each team more sustainable within the community.
The financial stability which comes with winning a grant will give all the clubs the opportunity to create a legacy in their community to inspire future generations of footballers.
Launched in August, the Budweiser Club Futures programme will invest £1million directly into grassroots football in the UK over the next two seasons as part of Budweiser’s FA Cup sponsorship.
Budweiser Club Futures ambassador, Alan Pardew, said: “This is a significant amount of money for these clubs. We received some terrific applications and it was a hard process to whittle it down to the eight winners. Having started my career at grassroots level, I know just how hard it is to sustain a local club and can’t emphasise enough the importance of a programme like Budweiser Club Futures.”
