Cabaye Backs The Next Geordie Legend
With a few minutes left on the clock and Newcastle desperate for a winner, there were a few eyebrows raised when Alan Pardew sent on 18 year old North Shields lad, Adam Campbell, to make his Premier League debut.
Five minutes later deep in injury time, Campbell was part of the move that led to Papiss Cisse’s winner and I bet there wasn’t a prouder player after the match than the diminutive Geordie striker.
After the game, Yohan Cabaye went out of his way to make special mention of the up and coming striker, when speaking to NUFC TV;
“He’s a young lad and he has a very good mentality.
He wants to play for his club because he’s from Newcastle and he has a big motivation.
I love his pace – gives it back and goes, I think he can score a lot of goals.
I was happy to see him on the pitch and I told him so after the game.
I hope it will give him a good mentality to keep working hard and stay in the team – and to have a big career”.
Campbell got a great reaction when he came on and especially with the exotic make-up of our team now, every little bit of extra Geordie passion won’t do any harm when added to the mix.
