Alan Pardew Explains Why He Left Cisse and Gutierrez At Home

Alan Pardew’s press conference has taken place after his counterpart, Guus Hiddink, delivered his verdict on the Europa Cup clash where he was very appreciative of Newcastle United’s quality.

Newcastle’s manager confirmed that Papiss Cisse had been sick since Sunday which meant he had to be left behind, though hopefully he will be ok for Sunday. (As an aside, amazing that in three or four days nothing had leaked out regarding the possibility of Papiss missing the match in Russia)

When it came to the respective signings made by the two clubs in the latest window, Alan Pardew was adamant that he wouldn’t swap his signings for the Russian team’s latest headline signing, Willian. The playmaker cost a reported £30m and shows yet again the money available and new found pulling power of certain Russian clubs.

Pardew also explained the other surprise absentee, Jonas Gutierrez, with the reason being that an ongoing knee weakness reacts badly to the artificial surface.

Great odds available for the Anzhi match this Thursday, especially if you aren’t already a customer of BetVictor and take advantage of their special offer of a £25 free matched bet.
