After Anzhi Match, Pardew Update On Ben Arfa and Cisse Fitness For Sunday

9 years ago

With a team selection nobody would have predicted, Alan Pardew has pulled off a great result in Moscow AND looks to have given himself a strong hand to play against Stoke on Sunday.

In a strange game on a difficult surface, the manager played very few of what would be considered his first choice eleven.

Two players the fans will hope to see available on Sunday are Papiss Cisse and Hatem Ben Arfa, the manager talking about their prospects to the club’s official TV channel after tonight’s match;

“The news I’ve heard today is that Cisse might be able to train tomorrow, that’s good news because he needs to get some air in his lungs.

Hatem isn’t 100% but I thought it was one area where he could cause problems with one of his little runs and he had a great moment just before he went off, when I fancy if he was fit he’d have scored that.

He’ll play a part on Sunday for sure, if we need him. Hopefully we won’t and we’ve got no injuries tonight”.

Fingers crossed that Cisse especially is back in training and can play against Stoke, although his absence would give us the possibility of seeing Gouffran through the middle for the first time.
