Sissoko – “Newcastle Match My Qualities”

Moussa Sissoko has been an instant hit at Newcastle United and while away on international duty with France he was much in demand to talk about his impact at St.James’ Park.

Thanks to our translator Pierre, we bring you translations from two interviews, the player is clearly loving it at Newcastle and in the role Alan Pardew has earmarked for him.

Interesting to see that Sissoko talks about Pardew telling him that he was playing him in that forward role for his first two matches, which begs the question of where he sees him playing longer term at Newcastle. Things will get even more interesting when Hatem Ben Arfa is fit again and added to the mix.

The first is from France Football;

Sissoko «Je n’osais pas…»

Sissoko: “I did not dare …”

Before the highly anticipated friendly match against Germany, the French international Moussa Sissoko explained about his debut with the Blues in 2009, a period when he was “intimidated by Henry.” “The first time, I was really young and very shy, conceded the Newcastle midfielder, who scored a victorious double this weekend against Chelsea. I dared not do certain things. All I was doing was control/pass – I was not taking any risks on the pitch but now I try to dribble, to use my skills. I have more experience.

«L’Angleterre est faite pour moi»

England is made for me”

“When I arrived, the coach told me he was going to use me in this position (Number 10) for the first two matches, says the native of the Seine-Saint-Denis.

I had already played there for Toulouse but I never imagined scoring two goals in my first home game, especially against the current European champions. I think England is made for me. It suits my style of play”.

This is what appeared in L’Equipe;

Sissoko : «Jamais imaginé ça»

Sissoko “Never imagined it”

Moussa Sisssoko is pinching himself to believe it, “the Premiership is made for me”.

“My game is based around attacking. Toulouse is a good team with quality players, but offensively, we had difficulties, even if this season is better than the previous one.

In Newcastle, the game is much more focused towards attacking. It matches my qualities. I will be able to express myself more with more opportunities to counter attack for example”.
