Sissoko Is Alan Pardew’s Perfect Ten
The manager has talked about Newcastle United belatedly catching up with modern trends;
“I have always wanted a ‘Number Ten’ here, I have always felt that we lacked what I’d call a natural modern day Number Ten.
Moussa Sissoko has added to Newcastle United, I was desperate to bring him here as it was a no-brainer”.
While there had been previous talk of Hatem Ben Arfa being an ideal ‘Number Ten’ I think that we are looking at good news all round.
For too long over the years we have had too many players who were tied to particular parts of the pitch and who didn’t have the ability or mobility to interchange and unsettle the opposition.
With players like Gouffran, Cabaye, Ben Arfa and Sissoko, plus attacking full-backs such as Debuchy and Santon, you have players comfortable on the ball and who can get around the pitch, rather than be tied to a particular area and so get rid of what at times have been predictable tactics.
Already we have seen the new January recruits such as Gouffran and Sissoko show great movement and clever attacking play, yet also show the right team spirit in terms of tracking back and covering when other players have gone forward.
Interesting times ahead do you think?
