Pardew Talks About Ashley’s £100m
With a smile on his face, this is what the manager had to say;
“No, I don’t think any of that money will be coming my way.
That windfall is earned by the success of his companies, what we need to do is to get our own success here both on and off the pitch, we’re working well towards that to generate our own money.
That’s the brief that we’ve got and that is what we will have to do”.
I think an awful lot of people were adding two and together and get £100m this week after Ashley had cashed in 4% of his 68% stake in Sports Direct.
It has been repeatedly stated that the club must be self-sufficient and there is no reason why Newcastle United can’t stay within what they earn AND at the same time be successful.
With the third highest crowds in England and every Premier League club predicted to get around £30m extra from broadcasting as from next season, Newcastle can progress, especially if Graham Carr has another couple of Sissokos up his sleeve.
The poor commercial revenue figures are probably Newcastle United’s main achilles heel and if the club could sort themselves out in that respect it would be a massive bonus.
