Pardew Says ‘Let’s Attack That Top Ten’ As The Bookies’ Odds Tumble
Not surprisingly, Alan Pardew was buoyant after the eventful victory over his old club on Sunday.
I know there is a tendency in this SKY age to talk about every match as though it is huge but the Southampton one was…huge.
Despite the better football and decent results since the arrival of the new signings, the fact remained that Sunday’s result would decide whether we were one result from being in the bottom three, or the comparative safety of six points clear.
The win lifted us above both the mackems and Southampton, with the added bonus of West Ham’s loss on Monday pushing United up to the heady heights of thirteenth.
This is what the manager had to say after the ninety minutes;
“I think that we are a different proposition now. We have beaten Chelsea, Metalist and now Southampton, who are every bit as good as the other two.
They were three massive wins, plus we were close to getting something at Spurs.
We’ve made great strides and I said before the Southampton game – ‘let’s attack that top ten’.
All of our players are on long contracts and so next year looks promising – hopefully we will set the scene for next season season just as Everton did”.
Before the Villa match we highlighted our top tip as being a sporting bet on Newcastle to finish in the Top Ten, as the juicy 8/1 odds were calling us.
With United now only three points behind tenth placed Stoke, who we play next week, the odds not surprisingly have dramatically tumbled.
However, looking things as they stand now, we still feel that the odds are still very attractive with Newcastle 7/4 to finish Top Ten, especially if you aren’t already a customer of BetVictor and take advantage of their special offer of a £25 free matched bet.
Interesting to see the Mackems aren’t favoured with the bookies as it is now 100/30 Sunderland to finish Top Ten – see all prices here.
