Pardew Names Starting Players For Tonight
The manager has indicated that both Yohan Cabaye and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa will both start and has also indicated the rest of the team will have a strong feel.
At the pre-match press conference Pardew said;
“We have players like Yohan Cabaye who has a lot experience on the international stage. There’s a renewed belief in the squad from the introduction of new players, particularly Sissoko and Mapou, who will play.
If I looked at my best team I’d put it up against any team in this competition and feel confident but I’ve never had that opportunity until now. We’re a lot stronger for this match and therefore if we get through this tie we have as much chance as anybody”.
The expectation must surely be that Alan Pardew is going to give it a real go and at least start with a pretty much full strength line-up and see where he is at half-time and then 60/70 minutes.
Metalist definitely tired in the last half hour at St.James’ Park, which is little surprise considering they haven’t played a league match for two and a half months as they are still in their winter break.
If Newcastle are in a position to go through with 25 minutes or so on the clock then surely we can see it out.
