Pardew – Latest Update On Ben Arfa, Coloccini and Krul Fitness

At his latest pre-match press conference, Alan Pardew has given an update on the fitness or otherwise of some of his key players.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Swansea, the manager has confirmed that Hatem Ben Arfa is very unlikely to be considered for the trip as he is not fully fit and needs ‘conditioning’, it could take a couple of weeks to get him up to speed.

Alan Pardew’s captain, Fabricio Coloccini is rated as ‘doubtful’ but does have a chance of making the Swansea match, Colo having hurt his back with his spectacular, but painful, overhead clearance against Southampton.

As expected, the news isn’t great on Tim Krul and the manager has confirmed that his keeper’s ankle is still swollen and could be looking at four or five weeks before he has a chance of being back.

Not the best news in the world but at least with the January reinforcements, this injury drama won’t turn into a crisis.
